Friend of El Diablo’s and much-feared Captain of the Ship of Foolishness Felix Dickinson sent us this new 12″ by Jamie Blanco, out on his Cynic label this week. It’s a soaring acid-drenched odyssey peppered with Robotnik rimshots and layers of strobing synths – the kind of record that grabs you by the scruff of the neck in the opening seconds and spits you out grinning like a simpleton six minutes later. Read MoreBack in 2007, Paper Recordings mainstay Ben Davis (Flash Atkins) put together The Bionics, a studio-bound side project with Crazy P’s Danielle Moore and Tim Davies. They released the ‘Solid Silver’ album, which tickled the fancies of nu-disco heads and deep-housers alike, with lead track ‘Love Chains’ causing a particular stir. Now, to celebrate the re-launch of the much-missed Paper, Ben has re-released ‘Love Chains’ with a plethora of remixes from likes of Max Essa, Greg Wilson and our own Neil Diablo. Neil’s version of the track is a creeping discoid slow-burner that creates the perfect space for Dani’s confessional vocals and his trademark ominous synth pads. It’s one of his strongest productions to date, and oozes that butterflies-in-your-stomach early doors El Diablo’s vibe.

It’s a deeply cosmic affair, featuring one of his own solo productions, ‘For Your Love’ (KAT EDIT), and comes housed in a Casey Jones striped fabric pocket with button fastening.
