The bank holiday season is swiftly upon us and 2022NQ is bringing quite the shindig to celebrate. Continuing their mandate of showcasing the great and good of the North West through all their artistic endeavours, Sunday 26th May will bear witness to one of Manchester’s most loved and revered parties in the shape of El Diablo’s Social Club, who celebrate a decade of debauchery in their own inimitable manner.

El Diablos has built a reputation on providing Manchester’s famously open minded clubbers with a journey through only the finest reaches of dance music. The mantra is simple – create the perfect environ for ‘psychedelic disco deviance’. Raiding everything from wonky italo to alien funk, raw house grooves up to string laden disco, the presence of Piccadilly Records’ Neil Scott and Dave Walker as residents has ensured the city’s personality has remained a core focus throughout.

It’s that Mancunian mandate that makes them a perfect fit for 2022NQ, and with that focus on Balearic attitude if sadly meteorological reality a genuine prospect of, metaphorically speaking, sunshine for the extended weekend. Past guests have included Maurice Fulton, Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, Danny Krivit and Hercules & Love Affair’s Andy Butler, and this time round they will bounce to the beat of Darshan Jesrani.

As one half of disco inspired house music masters Metro Area, Darshan helped reshape the terrain of electronic music in the early stages of the twenty first century. Their self titled debut album stands out as one of the very few bonafide classics house music has ever mustered, gloriously evocative of the greatness of electronic music shorn of vocals and obvious hooks.

On the solo tip Darshaan has just as warmly received, whether delivering difficult to pigeonhole productions and remixes or as a selector du jour behind the decks. As befitting of a man of his standing, his sets transpire the great and good of house, disco, techno and even the more delicious corners of pop music. He’s the perfect guest to bring in ten years of malevolently sordid musical swagger.

EL DIABLO’S SOCIAL CLUB
9TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
SUN 3RD JUNE
ERIC DUNCAN
DANIELLE MOORE (CRAZY P)
NEIL DIABLO / DAVE WALKER
2022
20 Dale St (entrance on Little Lever St)
Manchester, UK
£8 advance / £10 on the door

It’s hard to believe that El Diablo’s Social Club has now reached its 9th Birthday, but here we are still keeping the disco fire burning! And where better to celebrate our almost-decade than at Manchester’s freshest venue, 2022 – an amazing Berlin/New York-esque basement full of vibes run by members of the EDSC team.

Eric Duncan has been a firm favourite around EDSC since he played as part of Rub ‘N’ Tug with cohort Thomas Bullock for our 3th birthday all those years ago. Since then Eric has played for us nearly every year as Rub ‘N’ Tug or on his own and always rocks the party. He’s been really busy over the last year or so as one half of Still Going (with Liv Spencer). He’s also running the Still Going Records project, hitting the spot with two releases so far. Also Eric’s ‘Dr Dunks’ moniker has been surfacing more recently with a Seahawks remix and his ultra limited Golf Channel releases with the Rhythm Odyssey.

Next up and a late addition to the line up is the lovely Miss Danielle Moore. It’s been hard to pin Danielle over the last year or so as Crazy P reach dizzy new heights with two critically acclaimed albums on the bounce; they’ve been all over the world and back with their amazing live and soundsystem sets. Another El Diablo’s favourite and part-time resident we’re glad Danielle could make it for this one.

Bringing up the rear are as ever are El Diablo’s very own Neil Diablo and Dave Walker.
